Mr. Đặng Lê Chí Thành’s journey to conquer MBA Talent is not only a story about improving professional knowledge, but also a combination of passion, effort, and determination to overcome challenges. From a technical background, he has expanded his business management thinking to create comprehensive value.
Let’s explore Mr. Chí Thành’s MBA Talent journey through the following article.
What motivated you to pursue an MBA program?
The quality management profession has always been my pride, because of its key role in bringing the highest quality products. A major challenge for those working in the industry is how to optimize processes, minimize costs while ensuring product quality in the context of increasing demands, not only from customers but also from the government, and many other stakeholders. This challenge motivated me to learn more about a more comprehensive perspective on business management. Therefore, pursuing an MBA program was an inevitable decision.
When viewing a business as a system, I can better understand the link between quality management and other functions, such as marketing, finance, and how they work together to create value for the company. Besides, an MBA also brings opportunities for me to cultivate new knowledge about business, administration, marketing, and finance – areas where I am still quite limited.
Finally, for a personal reason, I want to set an example for my children, proving that learning has no stopping point. I want my children to understand that constantly learning and developing themselves is an important part of life.
Why did you decide to choose the MBA Talent program?
The MBA Talent program has exceeded my expectations. I have gained in-depth knowledge of business administration fields, including human resource management, finance, economics, marketing, etc. In particular, I am deeply impressed with the lecturers, who not only impart professional knowledge excellently but also inspire participants to be able to constantly improve and develop even after the course ends.
Among the subjects, Financial Reports for Decision Making with the guidance of thầy Võ Hồng Đức, left a deep impression on me. As a technical person, I was completely unfamiliar with financial knowledge. However, he turned dry financial concepts into real-life situations, close to life.

What difficulties did you face on the MBA Talent journey?
Before joining the program, I had envisioned the workload and time investment required. However, balancing work, family, and study was a big challenge. I had to constantly adjust my schedule to meet academic requirements, master the knowledge of the teachers, as well as the exercises with very close deadlines. Besides, I had to maintain work performance, and spend time with my family, playing and studying with the children.
In addition to the time issue, the knowledge in the program was also very new. To absorb effectively, I actively searched for more reference materials, especially real case studies. Combining knowledge from the lecture hall with self-study helped me gain a deeper understanding of the concepts and apply them in practice.
And finally, in the MBA class, there are many young people from many companies who have different perspectives and priorities in terms of work as well as learning from me. Especially during the MBA Talent course, there are many group assignments to be done. Through group projects, I learned how to communicate effectively, resolve conflicts, and contribute personal opinions.
After 1 year of studying MBA Talent, what values do you find yourself gaining?
The MBA program has brought me a big change in thinking. From a technical person focused on product standards, I have broadened my vision to consider issues more comprehensively. I realized that technical decisions not only affect product quality but also affect the entire business operations of the company. Now, when making decisions, I always consider factors such as marketing strategy, finance, and human resource development.
For example, with the company’s context, I need to look further at how that technical standard supports marketing strategy, sales strategy, financial strategy, or how my decisions affect human resource management, employee development plan.
The MBA program has equipped me with the necessary leadership knowledge and skills. Through courses on management and human resources, I have a better understanding of different leadership styles and how to apply them in practice to my team.
For example, the 70:20:10 model that I applied before has been reinforced and supplemented by new theoretical knowledge. Thanks to that, I can design training and human resource development programs suitable for each individual, helping them not only develop professionally but also improve the soft skills needed for the job.
What are your plans after successfully conquering the MBA Talent journey?
For me, the MBA journey will not stop after I finish and receive my diploma. Maybe after graduating, I will look for more projects related to quality management, supply chain management, process optimization, and find ways to add value to the company.
Besides, I think that my work experience and past experiences are also a very valuable source of documents. I also want to find more opportunities to share real stories with those who need them.
What is your message to the next generation of MBA Talent participants?
For the MBA Talent program, first, I think you need to prepare yourself very carefully for the plan to participate in the MBA Talent. I assess that the biggest obstacle is time management, how to have time to absorb academic knowledge from teachers, from case challenges, while still fulfilling responsibilities to the company and family.
One of the things I have done and found very effective is to have a balanced lifestyle in terms of health and spirit, to have a balanced state, and to conquer many goals at the same time.
In addition, I find that the MBA learning journey is not like a race, so I feel quite comfortable. I see it as a journey, today is better than yesterday to get inspiration to continue on the road ahead.
